Compressor: Image & PDF

Effective 4 Oct 2026  ·  Package com.harshanaj.compressor

In plain terms: Compressor processes your photos and PDFs entirely on your device. Files you compress, convert, edit, merge, split, scan, or sign are never uploaded anywhere. Only two things leave your device: data our advertising partners (Google and Unity) use to show ads, and basic performance metrics from Google's on-device ML tools (never your photos). Details below.

01 Information we collect

Compressor does not require an account, and we do not collect, transmit, or have access to the photos, PDFs, or other files you process in the app. All compression, conversion, photo editing, merging, splitting, scanning, and signing happens locally on your device using your device's own processing power. Document scanning uses Google's on-device document scanner (part of Google Play services), which processes the camera image on your phone. Compressor itself does not request camera access, and the signature you draw to sign a PDF is stored only in the app's private storage on your device.

Edit Image also works entirely on your phone. The background tools use Google's on-device subject detection (ML Kit), and the AI eraser runs a model that is downloaded once from Google Play the first time you use it. Your photos are never sent to Google or to us.

We do not operate any server that Compressor sends your files to. There is no upload step in any feature of this app.

02 Third-party services

Compressor is free to use and supported by ads from our advertising partners, Google and Unity Ads (Unity Technologies, whose ads reach the app through Google's ad mediation). To show ads, their SDKs may collect and process data such as:

This data is collected and processed by Google and Unity, not by us, and is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and Unity's Privacy Policy. See also how Google uses information from apps that use its services and Google's business data responsibility site.

Google ML Kit (part of Google Play services) powers the document scanner and the subject detection in Edit Image. It processes images on your device and never sends them anywhere, but it may update its models and send Google basic performance metrics, such as device model and processing time. See Google's ML Kit terms.

In the European Economic Area and UK, Compressor uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request your consent before any personalized advertising data is collected, in line with GDPR requirements.

03 Permissions we use

04 Data storage & retention

Compressor keeps a local history of your past compression jobs (file names, sizes, and timestamps) so you can find results later. This history is stored only in the app's local database on your device — it is never transmitted to us or anyone else.

You can clear this history, and the app's temporary working files, at any time from Settings → Data. Uninstalling the app removes all of it.

05 Children's privacy

Compressor is a general-audience utility app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
